T O P I C R E V I E WWild HorsesI have my Moon in the 3rd house, and I'm always reading things that refer to this as my Moon being in "The House of its Joy." Why?Why isn't the 4th the house of the Moon's joy? Why isn't the 3rd house the house of Mercury's joy? This has always puzzled me.Can someone who's been studying astrology longer and has a better understanding of this explain it to me?KarkaQueenIt's simple. It's where the MOON can express herself through verbal communication (which is the easiest) and often implies easiness and simplicity around your siblings as well as attaching learning with the emotional experience.I have MOON in the THIRD, MARS in the SIXTH, and VENUS in the FIFTH < those are all my house of joys. Lol KarkaQueenThis is a little unrelated, but nevertheless interesting:• Mercury has dual rulership of Gemini and Virgo • Venus has dual rulership of Taurus and Libra • Mars has dual rulership of Aries and Scorpio • Jupiter has dual rulership of Sagittarius and Pisces • Saturn has dual rulership of Capricorn and Aquarius The other notion of “joy” refers to a planet’s preference for being in a certain house or ‘place’: • Mercury has “joy” in the 1st House • Moon has “joy” in the 3rd House • Venus has “joy” in the 5th House • Mars has “joy” in the 6th House • Sun has “joy” in the 9th House • Jupiter has “joy” in the 11th House • Saturn has “joy” in the 12th House• Mercury rejoices or prefers Virgo • Venus rejoices or prefers Taurus • Mars rejoices or prefers Scorpio • Jupiter rejoices or prefers Sagittarius • Saturn rejoices or prefers Aquariussource, it explains things well including your q: http://www.astromundi.com/documents/JoysofthePlanets.pdf IndigoDiraeGracious; how intriguing yet archaic. I suppose I see why the MOON might enjoy 3H given the 'family' connexion. That's about it, though, really. All else seem logical:SUN 9H (LEO to SAG)VENUS 5H (LIB to LEO)SATURN preferring the 11H makes sense, given its traditional rulership of URA.Hang on; MARS in 6H. ARI to VIR? Odd. Is it because of its physicality? Seems an off spot for MARS. I'm not that traditional, though. I studied traditional first and then branched out into the modern. My 3H MOON-URA wasn't going to stay too 'traditional' for long. StarlightSmileSupremeMars can give you plenty of work energy in the sixth house. I can see Mars liking it there. Mars can give lots of work energy in the twelfth house, too. VenusDiSiriusI think that Moon being "joyous" in H3 has to with memory and heightened senses, which help to refine perception. As to H6 Mars, I'd think it has to do with applied energy and vitality, both singular to H6/Virgo. H5 Venus is self-explanatrory. No idea on H12 Saturn, right now...
